We are full tilt in conference tournament week in college basketball. Many teams have booked their NCAA Tournament ticket. Thursday features a loaded slate with still plenty of power conference teams aiming to keep their seasons alive.
Let’s take a look at the best college basketball player prop trends today!
NCAAM Player Prop Trend: Dayvion McKnight Assists
Let’s kick things off with a matchup that features a team currently on the outside looking for the NCAA Tournament. But a win here for Xavier over Marquette may be enough to get the Musketeers on the right side of the bubble.
Dayvion McKnight is the key facilitator for Xavier with a team leading 24% assist rate. He’s enjoyed quite the career against Marquette. Having cleared this assists number in every game.
McKnight recording 6 and 5 assists in both matchups against the Golden Eagles this season should be no surprise. Marquette ranks 345th in opponent assists per field goal made at 60.3%.
Xavier’s offense relies heavily on assisted buckets and getting touches across the rotation. Their 64.3% assist rate ranks 4th in the nation. This should be an excellent spot for their offense to continue it’s success.
This Marquette defense is also giving up a high volume of shots from beyond the arch. The Musketeers have been an extremely efficient three-point shooting team all season. But that primarily comes from Ryan Conwell and Marcus Foster. McKnight doesn’t take many shots from the perimeter so expect to see him kicking out to these perimeter scorers to clear this assists number.
NCAAM Player Prop Trend: Tre Johnson 3PT FG Made
Speaking of teams on the bubble. Texas kept their NCAA Tournament hopes alive yesterday with a win over Vanderbilt. They’ll need another win today to have any chance of grabbing a March Madness spot.
Tre Johnson has been one of the best freshman in college basketball this season. He has willeed this Longhorns team into contention. But yesterday was not a strong performance from the future lottery pick as he was just 6/19 from the field and 3/10 from three.
Texas A&M is consistently a team to target for 3PTM props as they completely take teams out of the paint and force them into an extremely high volume of three point attempts. In fact they allow the 7th highest three point rate, 47.7% of opponent shots are from three.
Johnson has taken 15 3PTA across two games against the Aggies. Considering he’s already averaging 7.5 3PTA in his last 10 contests I’d expect to see him take close to double digit threes in this matchup.
The star freshman has been an efficient perimeter scorer all season, shooting 39% from three. After a down night efficiency wise yesterday I like him to bounce back with the Longhorns season on the line.
NCAAM Player Prop Trend: Caleb Grill Points
Probably my favorite player prop of the day is Missouri’s Caleb Grill. They start their SEC Tournament run against a Mississippi State team I don’t expect to have many answers for the senior guard.
The Bulldogs have been horrible defending the three and Grill is one of the best shooters in the entire nation. Mississippi State opponents are taking 44.2% of their shots from beyond the arch and they rank 318th in opponent three-point percentage at 36.2%.
Not to mention, Miss State also struggles to keep opponents off the free throw line. Ranking 231st in opponent free throw rate.
It’s why Grill made 6 threes in their matchup earlier this season against Mississippi State. He did this in just 22 minutes of action too. When in his last 10 games he’s played 31 minutes per night.
Not to mention, Grill is averaging 7.5 3PTA and 3.9 FTA per game over his last 10. All of this success will come to a head today in what should be an explosive game for the Missouri guard.
NCAAM Player Prop Trend: Amari Williams Points + Rebounds
Last week when I took to Williams in a matchup against LSU the Wildcats blew the doors off the Tigers and Williams night was cut short in the blowout. Now in an SEC Tournament game against an Oklahoma team that’s looking to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive I expect him to get his full assortment of minutes.
Williams is a monster on the glass on both ends of the floor. This should come plenty easy to him in this matchup as the Sooners don’t have the size or bigs to matchup with him. Oklahoma ranks outside the top-260 in both defensive and offensive rebounding.
But they’re also one of the country’s worst interior defense because of that lack of size. Opponents are making 54.6% of their 2pt shots which ranks 316th nationally.
Amari had just 11 points and rebounds in their matchup a few weeks ago but only played 19 minutes. He’s been playing upwards of 25 minutes in his last 10 games and in a win or go home game I’d expect him to be leaned upon heavily in such an advantageous matchup.
