It’s looking to be quite the weather week in college football this Saturday. The midwest seems to be littered with showers and high winds. Be sure to keep that in mind when looking to lock in your player props for CFB week 7.
Let’s get into some of the best player props.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: J.J. McCarthy Pass Yards
We start with that rough weather in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Where there is expected to be 15-20 mph winds and rainfall up to 10mm throughout Michigan vs Indiana.
McCarthy has failed to clear this number in 4 straight games. Now with this weather, Jim Harbaugh’s team may elect to keep the ball on the ground. Especially going against an Indiana team that ranks 105th in run defense this season.
McCarthy is averaging just 20.2 pass attempts per game this season. Averaging over 10 yards per attempt in order to go over this number is going to be tough in this one.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Graham Mertz Pass Yards
The Gators offense has looked pretty lethargic on the road this season, averaging just 12.5 points per game away from the Swamp. But South Carolina provides an excellent opportunity to get points on the board.
Mertz has gone over 222.5 passing yards in 66% of games this season. The Gamecocks meanwhile, are giving up 301.4 passing yards per game, the 7th most in the nation. The Florida QB should have plenty of clean pockets to operate under as well as South Carolina’s defense ranks 121st in pressure rate in 2023.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Luther Burden Receiving Yards
It’s time we start talking about Luther Burden’s Heisman campaign. The Tigers slot receiver has dominated any and all competition this season, cashing his over receiving yards in 5 straight games.
Kentucky has given up 679 passing yards in their last two games of conference play against Florida and Georgia. What they do well is stop the run, so teams have been throwing it 38 times per game against them, the 12th most in the country.
Burden has dominated the target share for Missouri, averaging 9 receptions per game. Expect the passing volume to be high in this one so double digit catches are on the table for a third straight week.
NCAAF Player Props Today: Bucky Irving Rushing Yards
How could we not talk about the biggest game of the week 6 college football slate? This matchup has massive implications in the PAC-12 title race and I believe the Ducks have the upper hand in Washington.
UW ranks 106th in run defense this season. They have the 11th lowest stuff rate in the nation, which I think is really important in this matchup. Irving can keep this Oregon team ahead of the chains pretty consistently which in turn will keep the electric Washington offense off the field.
Expect to see Irving get an increase on his 11.5 rush attempts average that he’s had the last 4 weeks.
NCAAF Player Props Today: Ollie Gordon Rushing Yards
The Cowboys seem to have made a pretty noticeable change in their offensive scheme the last few weeks. As they’re running the ball far more often. But even more importantly Gordon has taken over as the clear RB1 in the offense.
Kansas provides an excellent matchup for Gordon to keep his recent momentum going. The Jayhawks are allowing 5.5 yards per carry on defense and rank 114th in opponent EPA/rush.
With Oklahoma State being at home in this one the point spread is tight with Kansas being just a 2.5 point favorite. If this game stays close, like the books expect, we should get a close enough game to keep Gordon’s rushing volume high.
