October is here, we’ve got football every single day for the next 40+ days! But that doesn’t make our Saturday’s any less sacred. We’ve got some excellent rivalries in CFB week 6, like Texas vs Oklahoma and Alabama vs Texas A&M!
We’ll be covering these, and a few other of the best games this weekend. Let’s get into some player prop trends for college football week 6!
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Jalil Farooq Receiving Yards
The Red River Shootout is always one of the best games of the year. There’s a reason why they call it the shootout, there’s usually A LOT of points!
What I do know about the Longhorns is that they’ve got an excellent run defense (16th in opponent EPA/rush) and they’ve proven it against quality opponents like Kansas and Alabama. What they haven’t faced is a quality quarterback or passing attack.
Farooq leads Oklahoma in routes run this season. He’s capable of being both a downfield and intermediate area threat. The junior’s 7 targets of 20+ air yards leads all Oklahoma receivers. Which has led to three straight games with receptions of 25+ yards.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Mookie Cooper Receiving Yards
This matchup may fly under the radar at noon, but Columbia should be rocking as the host Tigers try to keep their perfect record in tact.
Missouri’s passing attack has looked really good this season. There’s no better opponent to help you keep that going then LSU. Who will now be missing starting corner Duce Chestnut this week. So the country’s 127th ranked pass defense will have it’s work cut out for it.
Luther Burden takes all the attention from opposing defenses, that’s allowed Cooper to quietly clear this number in three straight games. LSU struggles immensely against receivers running routes from the outside, which Cooper does exclusively.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Carson Steele Rush Yards
The Bruins have had a long time to think about their 14-7 loss to Utah in week 4. A bye week should do Chip Kelly’s group wonders. And the Washington State defense gives them a get right spot offensively.
Oregon State ran for 255 yards on 35 carries the last time the Cougs took the field. That has Washington State ranking 92nd in run defense this season.
Steele doesn’t have a stranglehold on the rushing share for UCLA, but he still hangs onto the lead role. In a game that lends itself to Chip Kelly’s team running the football, we could see Steele set a new season high in rush attempts on Saturday.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Carson Beck Pass Yards
These don’t seem to be the same Georgia Bulldogs of years past. They are really struggling to run the football in 2023. Their 4.4 yards per carry ranks 63rd in the nation. Now Kentucky comes to town with a top-10 run defense this season.
Carson Beck has been given the starting gig and is likely the reason there isn’t a loss on Georgia’s record. He’s thrown the ball 32.2 times per game and is completing 71.6% of his passes. They’ll need him even more so against this Wildcats defense that can stop the run.
NCAAF Player Prop Trend: Cam Skattebo Rush Yards
The Buffs make the trip to Arizona State this weekend in a must have game if they want to become bowl eligible. But the Sun Devils will have something to say about that and it starts with running back Cam Skattebo.
It’s been a heavy dose of junior the last two weeks as he’s toted the rock 44 times. If he sees anywhere near this type of volume vs Colorado don’t expect his recent trends to continue.
Deion Sanders’ team is giving up 5.7 yards per carry (119th) and 193.6 total rushing yards per game (114th). With a tight point spread at just 3.5 points Skattebo should see plenty of opportunity in a close game.
